  • The studies have shown that the support the child/ adolescent receive from a parent or guardian/ caregiver and their involvement in a child’s life is important for the prevention of substance abuse among children/ adolescents.
  • Addiction prevention starts with parents in the family environment, parental attitudes and family environment influence and form a child’s social, emotional functioning behaviours and acceptance of healthy behaviours.
  • Teachers and parents can and should work together to prevent underage drinking/ alcohol abuse, smoking and problematic internet use among children/ adolescents.
