Topic 3 Types of Programs

The Program Can Be Organized as:

  • Consists of information sharing between the peers of same age or peers with similar demographic characteristics, or even the same high-risk group
  • Have effect in reduction of smoking uptake among the children/ adolescents in secondary schools
  • The peer educators must be motivated, well educated, and supervised.
  • Through theatre the campaign can share the awareness and messages
  • The play revolves around the relationships between the facts and common misconceptions, or fictions
  • Better effects of theatre health promotion on the boys than the girls
  • The main component is adequate planning
  • Should be used only along with the other approaches
  • The programs of raising awareness on the given topic throughout the community and is based on three key concepts:
    • Social capital
    • empowerment
    • Social change
  • Lead to the reduction of the prevalence of active smoking, per capita cigarette consumption and increase in smoking cessation rates.
  • Based on the application of the principles of marketing in the process of achieving behavioural goals.
  • Has a short-term effect
  • Successful in raising an issue
  • Successful in encouraging the debate
  • Especially effective for delivering the messages to youth
  • Mass media campaigns have a significant impact when combined with school-based interventions.
